About Snells Beach – Snells Beach is becoming an increasingly attractive place for people to live in. The population has risen rapidly in recent years to reach 3,760 in 2024. There are 1,905 households at Snells Beach with additional houses in a new sub-division – Mahurangi Heights. The 2.5 kilometre long tidal sandy beach, which attracts a variety of shorebirds, is popular for kite surfing, paddle boarding, swimming, fishing, and dog walking. The pohutukawa- lined esplanade reserve features footpaths, playgrounds (4), picnic areas, a public barbecue, a waterfront café, public toilets, showers, boat ramps (4), and free overnight parking for motorhomes. The Mahurangi Shopping Centre includes cafés, retail stores, public toilets, Wifi facilities, and overnight parking for motorhomes. The adjacent Goodall Reserve hosts a community centre, library, bowling club, tennis club, kindergarten, skate park, sports fields, dog exercise area, and walking tracks. Nearby is a petrol station, two motels, and several bed and breakfasts. The Brick Bay Sculpture Trail – an outdoor gallery showcasing contemporary sculpture amongst native trees, palms, birdlife and green pastures – is located at the western entrance of Snells Beach. About the Snells Beach Community Association The primary objectives of the Snells Beach Community Association are to a) Represent and advocate for the community of Snells Beach on relevant issues within the wider Mahurangi East Peninsula: b) Liaise with local authorities in the design, development and maintenance of new & existing local community facilities for the benefit of the community c) Work with local agencies and other community groups to protect and enhance the environment d) Actively seek opportunities to work with or alongside other agencies and associations, groups or individuals with similar aims, in ways which will benefit the community, including financial and other assistance to community projects. f) Seek to grow and maintain an active membership g) Foster community engagement and participation in local government issues h) Adopt all necessary powers to undertake the work of the Society including the purchase or lease of any real or personal property |
