Snells Beach Ratepayers and Residents Association SBRRA - welcome

The SBRRA:

Promotes, protects and focuses Local Government attention on the interests of the Snells Beach community. We propose, plan, make formal submissions and carry out projects which maintain and expand our amenities; and protect the local environment.

Meetings:

Are held on the first Monday of each month in the Betty Paxton Room at the Mahurangi Community Centre, Hamatana Rd, Snells Beach.

Last meeting for 2017 at 7.30 pm on Monday 4 December 2017.

We have had guest speakers- Fire and Ambulance Services, Snr Constable Hamish Buick on Local Law, Order and Crime, Views on beach front car parking, Citizens Advice Bureau, Springboard, the Commonwealth Games, NAG (separation from Auckland Council) and our local clubs:- Tennis, indoor and outdoor Bowls, Garden Circle etc

We have recently worked on the following:

  • Maintaining the liquor ban.
  • Restoration of the shoreline to protect the Ercegs Walkway
  • Expanding Sunrise playground adding new swings, Flying Fox, basket swing, rotating climbing net, and a slide
  • Installing swings at Sunburst playground
  • Obtaining interim improvements at the Hill St junction Warkworth
  • Auckland Unitary and 10 year Auckland budget Plans
  • Te Whau Esplanade and Snells Beach to Warkworth walkways
  • Rodney Local Board Plan

And we are working on:

Essential reconstruction of the Mahurangi East Road between Governor Gray and Arabella, along with extending the footpath there.

Proper attention to fix the condition of Sandspit Roads roller coaster features.

Fund raising for the completion of the Sunrise playground with further new items.

Replacing old tables on the beachfront.

Supporting the construction of the Matakana Link Road.

Getting water quality monitoring in Kawau Bay.

Ensuring the appropriate use of the carparks, especially by campervans.

       

There has been a large increase in membership of the SBRRA to 135 households which has added weight to the submissions that the SBRRA has made to the Rodney Local Board, Auckland Council and Auckland Transport.
